Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation is a Body registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. It was conceived on 1st April, 1999 by merging erstwhile Karnal Aviation Club, Hissar Aviation Club and Pinjore Aviation Club into it.

The institute is situated 3 Km. away from the G.T.Road towards East on Karnal-Kunjpura Road, near Budha Khera village.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

Main Objectives of the Institute are to impart flying training to the young boys and girls from all over the country for making career as pilot and Engineer. To fulfil these objectives, it has total fleet of 3 aircraft at Karnal Branch, 4 aircraft at Hissar Branch and 4 aircraft at Pinjore Branch. Besides, flying training, gliding training is also available at its' branches. The aircraft's are of different categories i.e. Pushpak, Cessna-152, Hansa-3 and piper Cherokee.

Flying training is provided in 4 phases as under:-

    1. Pre-PPL (private pilot licence) Flying
    2. Post-PPL flying
    3. C.P.L. flying ( Commercial Pilot licence)
    4. Flying for instructor Rating

PPL is obtained by a trainee between 40 and 60 hours of flying and for CPL.One has to do minimum 250 hours flying which includes cross-country flights, instrument flying, simulator training, flying skill tests etc.

The Institute also imparts practical training to the students for qualifying Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence.

To achieve its goal, the Institute has the following infrastructure:-

    1. Metalled Runway of the dimension 3000'x150'.
    2. Different categories of light aeroplanes.
    3. Well equipped workshop for day-to-day maintenance and major repair/overhaul of aircraft.

1. Aerodrome equipped with navigational aids such as non-directional beacon, night lying beacon etc. The aircraft used for training are also equipped with night flying facilities.
2. Hostel is also available for regular students. Arrangements of accommodation for girl students is also done by the Institute.

The institute has sufficient numbers of trained Flying Instructors and Engineers for training.

The Institute is governed by a General Body, the Minister of civil Aviation Haryana being its' President and Adviser Civil Aviation Haryana as Chief Executive Director, Besides these, there are officers of State and Central Government appointed selected on various positions in the Institute

INTAKE OF STUDENTS FOR FLYING:

Through State Govt. sponsorship for which advertisements, are published in News papers every year.

Direct recruitment (admission for direct recruitment are open round the year)

DURATION OF COURSE

Between 2 to 3 years depending upon the aptitude of an individual.

COST OF TRAINING

Between 3 lacs and 3.5 fees for State Sponsored students.
Between 5 lacs and 6 lacs for others.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

i) Facilities of Chartered Flights, Joy-rides etc.
ii) Simulator training.
